The most common symptom of vaginal yeast infection is itching and irritation of the vulva. Since vulvar or vaginal itchiness is a symptom which is not specific to only vaginal yeast infection, it is important to get tested by a doctor to make sure the cause of the itching symptom is not another condition such as (bacterial vaginosis, trichomonisasis or contact dermatitis).

Symptoms of vaginal yeast infection also include:

  • Pain or discomfort during urination
  • Pain or discomfort during intercourse
  • Soreness of the vulva or vaginal region
  • Vaginal discharge is not a common symptom, however when it occurs, the discharge is odorless and can range from white and clumpy in texture to watery in certain cases.
  • Redness of the vagina and vulva
  • Cracked skin around the vaginal area
  • Swelling of the vaginal area as a result of fluid build up
