Below is a list of pertinent facts patients should know about Viagra and how it effects impotence
- Viagra should be taken 1 hour prior to sex.
- Viagra is most effective 30 minutes to 4 hours
- Viagra is most effective if taken prior to eating anything. Especially avoid eating high fat meals.
- Viagra comes in doses of 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg. The normal dosage of Viagra starts of at 50mg. If this does not work patients can ask their doctors to increase the dosage to 100mg. It is common for males post surgery to need 100 mg, or more, of Viagra.
- The effects of Viagra are usually completely gone after 8-12 hours.

Side effects of Viagra include:
- Headache
- Facial flushing
- Upset stomach
- Blurred vision
- Clogged or runny nose
Viagra warning
Patients who are taking nitrates for chest pain should NOT use Viagra.
Patients with heart complications should notify their doctors prior to taking Viagra. If a patient begins to feel chest pains or tightening of the chest as a result from taking Viagra, they should let a doctor know immediately
